Padres Interview Larry Beinfest

beinfestThe team announced this afternoon that Larry Beinfest, the former President of Baseball Operations of the Miami Marlins, has interviewed for the vacant general manager position.

Official release:

SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Padres announced they completed an interview with Larry Beinfest earlier today for the vacant general manager position.

Beinfest was General Manager for the then-Florida Marlins when they won the World Series in 2003 and was responsible for acquiring Hanley Ramirez, Anibal Sanchez and Ricky Nolasco among others.

During his tenure with the Marlins, the team posted all but one of their top single-season win totals.

How about putting a good baseball guy like Buddy in the GM slot, and bringing in someone that knows about hard work with a kick-butt attitude like Tim Flannery as the field manager. That would be a winning combination. That would be in keeping with the Spirit of Tony Gwynn!
