No rest for the weary

Sledge

It was a short turnaround at the Peoria Sports Complex.  The Padres defeated the Angels, 8-7, in 10 innings last night before returning to the complex early this morning for a 1:05 p.m. game against the Brewers.  Somebody pass the coffee.

Terrmel Sledge continued his hot hitting last night, connecting for a two-run homer in the sixth inning of Ervin Santana.  Entering today's game, Sledge is batting .304 with two doubles, five home runs and 11 RBI in 14 games.  His five homers are tied for the Cactus League lead with San Francisco's Barry Bonds and Milwaukee's Ryan Braun.

Was there a battle for the left field position heading into Spring Training?  If there was, I don't think it even exists now.
