Bud Black an All-Star

Bud Black reached double figures in wins seven times in the Major Leagues, getting as high as 17. But he never made an All-Star team as a pitcher.

Colorado Rockies manager Clint Hurdle named his Padres counterpart to the National League coaching staff for the 2008 All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium.

Check out the MLB press release.

Willie Randolph will be the NL's other coach. Hurdle also will be supported by his Rockies staff.

Although this is Black's first offical All-Star honor, he has All-Star Game experience. In 2003, he accompanied manager Mike Scioscia as part of the Angels staff that worked the game at new Comiskey Park in Chicago. The Angels, of course, were World Champions in 2002 with Black serving as pitching coach.

Congrats, Harry Ralston Black III.
