The Padres' victory Saturday night has meeting to Friar John not just because of the coincidental numbers -- congrats to Maddux, by the way -- but because of that three-run home run by Adrian Gonzalez.

There is nothing bigger for an offense struggling to manufacture runs than getting them grouped in one swing. The stresses on the ballclub seem to melt away. The pitchers stay in rhythm. The defense is on its toes.
