Clark to Diamondbacks; Padres get pitcher

The Padres traded veteran first baseman Tony Clark to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday for Single-A right-handed pitcher Evan Scribner.

It's a logical move, as the recall of Brian Myrow last week left the Padres with three first baseman and Arizona has missed Clark's guidance of younger teammates since he left for San Diego as a free agent last winter.

Coverage is at padres.com, as is the team's press release.

An oddity of Clark's four-month Padres career: He played a total of 22 innings on defense -- all in one game! Yes, Clark played the whole 22-inning game against Colorado on April 17, his only appearance at first base this year.

As for Scribner, his 6-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio catches the eye.
