2004: Former Padres 3B Ken Caminiti dies in New York at age 41.

1998: The Padres take a 3-0 lead in the National League Championship Series with a 4-1 victory over the Atlanta Braves at Qualcomm Stadium. LHP Sterling Hitchock outpitches RHP Greg Maddux, and CF Steve Finley goes 2-for-4 with a double, a run and an RBI.

1984: The Padres earn the only World Series game victory in franchise history as they defeat the Detroit Tiger 5-3 in Game 2 at Jack Murphy Stadium to even the Series 1-1. DH Kurt Bevacqua erases a 3-2 deficit with a three-run home run in the fifth inning and dances his way around the bases.
