Padres aplenty in World Baseball Classic

They released the World Baseball Classic final rosters on Tuesday, and there was no shortage of players from the Padres organization.

Friar John was surprised to see Edgar Gonzalez's name on the Mexico roster. Gonzalez had indicated he probably wouldn't play if he couldn't be assured playing time. FJ will be keeping an ear open to champ chatter today to see how this one played out.

Regardless, it's good to see both Gonzalez brothers listed because there's a good chance Mexico will advance out of the first round and play second-round games at PETCO Park. Whether they're in blue and sand or wearing the Tri Colors, it's good to watch the Gonzalez brothers at PETCO Park.

Check out the ticket info page of padres.com if you're interested in attending.

Here's the list of Padres players and minor leaguers included on the rosters released Tuesday:

Henry Blanco: Venezuela, catcher
Adrian Gonzalez: Mexico, first baseman
Edgar Gonzalez: Mexico, infielder
Scott Hairston: Mexico, outfielder
Jake Peavy: United States, pitcher
Alessio Angelucci: South Africa, pitcher
Philip Barzilla: Italy, pitcher
Peter Ciofrone: Italy, outfielder
Luis Durango: Panama, outfielder

Here's hoping they all play well and come back to came healthy and ready for the season!
