Padres 4, Mariners 3 (10 innings)
Friar John thinks the only thing better than day baseball is a victory under the sun.
Adrian Gonzalez went 4-for-4 and hit his first home run since June 2 to lead the Padres past the Mariners at PETCO Park on Thursday afternoon.
Check out Corey Brock's game story at padres.com for details.
A walk-off win always feels good -- Kevin Kouzmanoff drove home Gonzalez with two outs in the 10th for the winning run -- but this one feels especially good.
The offense did a little damage after scoring just one run in the previous 29 innings. The Padres broke a five-game winning streak. And the Padres ended a 12-game losing streak in interleague play.
Word is out about some roster moves that should bolster the offense. The Padres' next American League foe, the Oakland Athletics, might be facing a greater challenge than the Angels and Mariners did.
FJ is eager to see what shakes out later today.
