The San Diego Padres won Game Three of the Wild Card Series against the St Louis Cardinals to move on to the NLDS.
From Craig Stammen’s first pitch to Trevor Rosenthal’s last, the Padres pitching staff rose to the occasion on Friday in a 4–0 victory over the Cardinals in Game 3 of the NL Wild Card Series at Petco Park. Nine members of the Padres’ bullpen pitched scoreless ball — the most pitchers used in a nine-inning combined shutout since at least 1901, regular season or postseason.
The Padres will face the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game One on Tuesday.
