Right-handed starter Odrisamer Despaigne picked up his first win at Triple-A Monday night as El Paso defeated Tacoma 3–2 in Texas.

Despaigne (1–1, 5.40 earned run average) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts over six innings in his second start for the Chihuahuas since being promoted from Double-A San Antonio.

The Padres signed the 27-year-old Cuban last month.

Left-hander Bobby LaFromboise (4.76 ERA) followed Despaigne and had one strikeout in 1 1/3 perfect innings. Right-hander Hector Ambriz allowed two hits with two strikeouts in a scoreless inning to pick up his fourth save.

Left fielder Jake Goebbert was 1-for-1 with two walks and a run scored. Designated hitter Jonathan Galvez (.299) was 1-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a RBI. Shortstop Tyler Greene hit a sacrifice fly as El Paso pulled to within a game of .500 at 29–30 with its fifth straight win.

ON THE MOVE: The Padres sold Triple-A, right-handed reliever Jorge Reyes to the Atlanta Braves Monday. Reyes, 26, a 17th-round pick of the Padres in 2009, was 3–2 with a 3.86 ERA in 24 appearances with the Chihuahuas this season. Reyes was in his third season at Triple-A, although he had never made a Major League appearance for the Padres.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (29–27): The Missions had Monday off.

SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (34–25): VISALIA 8, Storm 7 — SS Diego Goris (.343) was 3-for-4 with his 18th double and 10th homer for two RBIs and two runs scored. Starting RHP Zach Eflin (3.86 ERA) allowed five runs on four hits and three walks in 2 1/3 innings. RHP Cody Hebner (4.13) gave up three hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings. RHP Ben Paullus (4.65) allowed a run on three hits with two strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings. RHP Trevor Gott (2–3, 2.70) blew the save and suffered the loss on a two-out, two-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth.

SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (26–31): TIN CAPS 4, West Michigan 3–1B Jake Bauers (.357) hit his fourth homer. SS Josh VanMeter was 2-for-4 and scored the decisive run. Starting RHP Walker Weickel (6.26 ERA) allowed one run on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts over six innings. RHP Eric Yardley (2.16) allowed two runs on three hits with a strikeout in 1 2/3 innings. RHP Tayron Guerrero (5–0, 1.19) allowed a hit with a strikeout in 1 1/3 scoreless innings to get the win.

DOMINICAN PADRES (0–2): REDS 9, Padres 3 — SS Westhers Magdaleno was 3-for-5 with a RBI. LF Ronaldo Contreras and 2B Manuel Vizcaino were both 2-for-4 with a double. Starting RHP Joel Linares allowed a run on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts in three innings to suffer the loss.
