The Triple-A El Paso Chihuahuas open an eight-game homestand tonight in an award-winning ballpark.

Southwest University Ballpark, which opened at the end of April, has been named the Ballpark of the Year by ballparks.com.

The 59–64 Chihuahuas completed a road trip Monday night with a 8–7 loss at Salt Lake.

Right fielder Jake Goebbert (.296) was 2-for-4 with his 14th homer for three RBIs. Left fielder Alex Castellanos (.263) was 2-for-5 with a third, a RBI and three runs scored. And left-handed pitcher Jason Lane (.396) made a spot start at first base for the short-handed Chihuahuas and went 2-for-4 with a double, a RBI and two runs scored.

Starting right-hander Donn Roach (4–5, 4.97 earned run average) allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits and five walks with two strikeouts in three innings to suffer the loss.

Right-hander Michael Nix (5.29) allowed one run on a hit and a walk with three strikeouts in three innings. Right-hander Stephen Kohlscheen (3.21) allowed a hit with two strikeouts in a scoreless inning. Right-hander Dennis O’Grady (4.57) allowed a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning.

ON THE MOVE: Outfielder Rymer Liriano was promoted to the Padres from Triple-A El Paso Monday.

Around the Farm:

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (59–61, 23–27): The Missions were off Monday.

SINGLE-A (high) LAKE ELSINORE (66–54, 26–24): The Storm were off Monday.

SINGLE-A (low) FORT WAYNE (52–66, 22–27): The TinCaps were off Monday.

SINGLE-A (short season) EUGENE (24–32, 9–9): BOISE 11, Emeralds 6 — Boise out-scored Eugene 28–9 the past two days. Starting RHP Logan Jernigan (0–3, 5.79 ERA) allowed five runs on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts in 2 2/3 inning. LHP Brandon Fry (6.23) allowed four runs on four hits and a walk with a strikeout in 1 1/3 innings. RHP Adrian DeHorta (3.95) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings. RHP Wilson Santos (2.30) allowed a hit and a walk with a strikeout in 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

ARIZONA ROOKIE PADRES (12–29, 4–9): ATHLETICS 2, Padres 1 — CF Michael Gettys (.329) was 2-for-4 with a RBI. OF Jhonatan Pena (.210) was 2-for-3. Starting RHP T.J. Weir (0.48 ERA) allowed a hit and two walks with a strikeout in two scoreless innings. RHP Manuel Gonzalez (1–5,9.71) allowed two runs on six hits and a walk with three strikeouts in four innings. RHPs Leonardo Solano (11.70) and Malcom Diaz (4.09) each worked a perfect inning.

DOMINICAN SUMMER LEAGUE PADRES (13–45): Reds 1, PADRES 1 (suspended after 8 ½ innings, rain) — Starting RHP Ernesto Montas (1.95 ERA) allowed one run on three hits and four strikeouts over six innings. RHP Emmanuel Ramirez (4.87) allowed two hits with four strikeouts in three scoreless innings.
