PADRES ON DECK: LHP Jackson Wolf allows an unearned run on 2 hits over 6 innings for AAA-El Paso

Recently re-acquired left-handed starting pitcher Jackson Wolf, the Padres’ №16 prospect, held Sugar Land to an unearned run on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts over six innings for Triple-A El Paso Sunday, lowering his earned run average with the Chihuahuas to 4.56.

Center fielder Homer Bush Jr., the Padres’ №9 prospect, was 1-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch and his 12th stolen base for High Single-A Fort Wayne.

Catcher-DH J.D. Gonzalez, the Padres’ №14 prospect, was 1-for-3 with three walks, a hit-by-pitch two RBIs and a run scored for Single-A Lake Elsinore as the Storm scored 16 runs in 14 innings to sweep a doubleheader in San Jose.

Shortstop Rosman Verdugo, the Padres’ №26 prospect, was 2-for-7 with a home run, three RBIs, a walk and two runs scored for the Storm. Third baseman Jay Beshears, the Padres’ №30 prospect, was 2-for-5 with a sacrifice fly, two RBIs, three walks and three runs scored.

Right-hander Isaiah Lowe (4.26 ERA), the Padres’ №20 prospect, gave up three runs (two earned) on two hits and two walks with four strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings in a relief role.

Back at El Paso, designated hitter Tirso Ornelas (.265), the Padres’ №26 prospect, was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Right-handed relief pitcher Alek Jacob (6.92 ERA), the Padres’ №16 prospect, gave up three runs on four hits in two-thirds of an inning.

AROUND THE FARM:

TRIPLE-A EL PASO (14–19) — Sugar Land 12, CHIHUAHUAS 5: Center fielder Bryce Johnson (.250) was 2-for-3 with 2 walks, 3 stolen bases, a RBI and a run scored behind Ornelas. 1B Kevin Plawecki (.246) was 2-for-5 with a RBI and a run. SS Matthew Batten (.233) had a double in 3 at-bats with a sacrifice fly, 2 RBIs, a walk and a run. RF Oscar Mercado (.198) was 1-for-4 with a RBI. 2B Tim Locastro (.319) was 1-for-3 with a walk. LHP Tom Cosgrove (0–1) followed Wolf and gave up 4 runs on 3 hits and a walk without retiring a hitter to take the loss in his 2024 El Paso debut. LH Paul Fry (6.23) gave up 4 runs on 4 hits and a walk in two-thirds of an IP. RH Nick Hernandez (3.27) retired the only hitter he faced. RH Logan Gillaspie (6.97) retired the only hitter he faced. RH Matt Festa (5.40) pitched a perfect IP.

DOUBLE-A SAN ANTONIO (13–13) — The Missions game at Arkansas was rained out. Since the teams do not play again in the first half, the game is cancelled and will not be made up.

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (10–17) — LAKE COUNTY 6, TinCaps 0: 2B Anthony Vilar (.222)was 1-for-3. 3B Devin Ortiz (.280) was 1-for-4. Starting RH Ruben Galindo (0–2, 3.68 ERA) gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks with 3 strikeouts in 2 innings to take the loss. RH Manuel Castro (6.00) gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and a BB with 3 Ks in 2 IPs. RH Francis Pena (0.73) allowed a hit and 2 BBs with a K in 2 IPs. LH Mitchell Miller (5.84) gave up 2 runs (1 earned) on 2 hits and 3 BBs with 3 Ks in 1 2/3 IPs. RH Joan Gonzalez (0.75) struck out the only hitter he faced.

SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (11–14) — Storm 7–9, SAN JOSE 6–6: 1B Romeo Sanabria (.319) was 4-for-7 with a home run, a sacrifice fly, 5 RBIs and a run scored in the doubleheader behind Verdugo, Gonzalez and Beshears. 2B Jose Sanabria (.226) was 3-for-7 with 2 RBIs, a walk, a stolen base and 3 runs. C Oswaldo Linares (.125) was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run. RF Braedon Karpathios (.264) was 2-for-8 with a walk and 2 runs. CF Nick Vogt (183) was 1-for-6 with a walk and 2 runs. RH Sam Whiting (7.71 ERA) started the first game and gave up 2 runs on a hit and 2 walks with a strikeout in 1 1/3 innings. RH Johan Moreno (1–0, 9.00) allowed a run on a hit and 3 BBs with 2 Ks in an IP to earn the win. RH Xavier Ruiz (3.60) gave up a hit with a K in a scoreless IP to earn his third save. RH Miguel Mendez (4.91) started the second game and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and a BB with 2 Ks in 3 IPs. RH Kobe Robinson (1–0, 3.86) gave up a run on 5 hits with a K in an IP to earn the win.
