May 22, 1979Broderick Perkins drives in the winning run with a 10th inning, walk-off single as the Padres defeat the Dodgers 7–6 at San Diego Stadium.

May 22, 1982 — Catcher Terry Kennedy goes 3-for-4 with a homer, four RBIs and three runs scored and right fielder Sixto Lezcano is 3-for-3 with a homer, three RBIs and three runs scored as the Padres defeat Pittsburgh 12–3 at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium.

May 22, 1992Andy Benes allows three hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in a complete-game shutout as he out-duels Cubs ace Greg Maddux in a 2–0 Padres win at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium.

May 22, 2000 — Excavation begins at the site of what is now Petco Park.

May 22, 2006 — Right-hander Jake Peavy sets the Padres single-game strikeout record with 16 in just seven innings in a 3–1 loss to Atlanta. The Padres also set the team record with 18 strikeouts in the game. Peavy’s line: seven innings pitched, three hits, two runs, one walk, 16 strikeouts.

May 22, 2010 — Designated hitter Matt Stairs homers in the Padres 2–1 interleague win in Seattle, becoming only the second player to homer in 11 different Major League ballparks.
